How it works
Three steps, about a minute
Step 1: Add a photo
Upload a front-facing photo or use your camera. Good light, neutral face, lips closed.
Step 2: Get mapped
Your browser places 478 points on your face and measures 22 proportions and angles.
Step 3: Read your result
See your PSL range, three geometry scores, your eye type and every line we measured.
What we measure
Four parts of your score
Three are pure geometry from your photo. The fourth needs a real look at your skin and hair.
- Harmony
- Facial thirds, the rule of fifths, eye spacing, nose to mouth width, lip ratio and left-right symmetry.
- Dimorphism
- Face width to height, jaw to cheekbone width, chin height and brow position, compared with the reference you pick.
- Angularity
- Jaw angle from the front, how the chin tapers and how straight your jawline runs.
- Misc
- Skin, hair, brows and grooming. A photo of proportions cannot rate these, so the free test leaves them open.
Reading your score
Why you get a range, not one number
- The 1–8 scale
- Scores run from 1 to 8. Your range is our model's estimate of where your face sits on that scale.
- Why a range
- Misc counts for a fifth of the score and the free test cannot see it. The low end assumes it is weak, the high end that it is strong.
- Not a ranking
- There is no "top 10%" here. The score describes proportions in one photo, not how people see you or your worth.
Your result
How to read your result
For context, here is how 101 adult faces that 2,513 people rated came out on this test.
- Where most ranges land
- On those faces the middle of the PSL range was below 4 for 15%, between 4 and 4.5 for 21%, between 4.5 and 5 for 35%, between 5 and 5.5 for 20% and 5.5 or higher for 10%. A result in the mid 4s is ordinary, not low.
- The three geometry bars
- Harmony, Dimorphism and Angularity each run from 1 to 8. A typical face scores around 4.8 on each. A low bar points you to the group of measurements to look at in the table; it does not mean a feature is wrong.
- "Outside" in the measurements table
- Each measurement has a typical range. "Outside" means your value falls beyond it in this photo. On the rated faces the usual count was 2, and only 13 of 101 had none, so a few flags are normal.
- Your eye type
- Hunter, neutral or prey comes from two numbers shown under it: canthal tilt and eye height to width. On the rated faces 92 of 101 were neutral, so neutral is the expected result. The Hunter Eyes Test page explains the cut-offs.
- The lines on your photo
- The overlay shows the points behind the numbers: the facial thirds, face width, pupil line, nose and mouth width, eye corners and jawline. If a line sits in the wrong place, the photo was hard to read; retake it with the tips below.
Photo tips
Take a photo that measures well
The test only sees what the camera sees. These habits make the numbers steadier from one photo to the next.
- Face the light
- Stand facing a window or a lamp so both sides of your face are lit evenly. Light from one side or from above throws shadows that shift where the jaw, nose and eye corners appear, and a dark photo is rejected.
- Hold the camera at arm's length
- A phone held close to the face widens the nose and the middle of the face. Hold it at arm's length or prop it up a little further away, then crop if you need to. The ratios do not depend on how big your face is in the frame.
- Keep your head level
- Put the camera at eye level and look straight into the lens. A raised chin shortens the lower face and a lowered chin lengthens it. The test rejects photos with too much tilt or turn, so you will see a hint if this happens.
- Neutral face, lips closed
- Smiling lifts the cheeks and changes the mouth, eye and jaw measurements. Use a relaxed expression with your lips together and your eyes open as they normally are.
- Show the whole face
- Keep your full face in the frame from forehead to chin, push hair away from the jawline and take off glasses. Hats, hands and heavy filters hide the points the test needs.
- Compare two or three photos
- Every photo is a little different. Take a few in the same spot and look at the range they give you rather than trusting a single result.
Limits
What a face test cannot tell you
- Attractiveness is more than geometry
- Skin, hair, expression, voice, style and how you move all shape how people see you. This test measures proportions in one still photo, which is one part of the picture.
- People disagree
- Ratings vary from person to person and between cultures. Our ranges come from one group of raters in one study, so treat them as a reference point rather than a rule.
- No global percentile
- We do not have a sample of the world to rank you against, so we do not say you are in the top or bottom of anything.
- Not medical advice
- Nothing here is a reason to change your face. We do not give medical, cosmetic or surgical advice, and the test is for adults only.
Privacy and accuracy

How far to trust the numbers
Lighting, lens distance, head angle and expression all shift facial ratios. Take two or three photos and compare. The typical ranges and the 1–8 scale are set from 101 adult faces that 2,513 people rated for attractiveness (Face Research Lab London Set, DeBruine & Jones 2017, CC BY 4.0). On those faces the geometry score agrees with the ratings only in part, because proportions are only part of attractiveness.
Full AI report
What the full AI report adds (coming soon)
The free test stays free. The paid report is not open yet; this is what it will include.
- Exact score
- Skin, hair, brows and grooming are rated from your photo, which turns the range into one PSL number.
- Seven areas
- Eyes and brows, skin, hair, jaw, nose, beard or makeup, and overall balance, each with what to keep.
- A plan you can use
- One to three changes to try first, with a note you can show your barber or stylist.
- Previews of you
- Four edits of your own photo, such as a new haircut or glasses, so you see the change before you make it.

FAQ
Questions people ask
- How accurate is an attractiveness test?
- It measures proportions well, but attractiveness is more than proportions. Light, angle and expression move the numbers, so compare two or three photos. Our typical ranges come from 101 faces rated by 2,513 people, and the geometry score agrees with those ratings only in part.
- How does this attractiveness test work?
- Your browser finds 478 points on your face, measures 22 ratios and angles, compares each with a typical range and combines them into Harmony, Dimorphism and Angularity, then a PSL range.
- How attractive am I?
- Add a photo above and you get a face rating as a PSL range from 1 to 8, plus the ratios behind it. It shows how your proportions measure, not how attractive people find you.
- Is this a rate my face or AI attractiveness test?
- Yes, it rates your face from one photo. The free test uses an on-device face-mapping model and a fixed formula; the AI report, coming soon, adds a vision model that looks at skin, hair and grooming.
- Is it free?
- Yes. The test, your eye type and the share card are free with no sign-up and no limit.
- Do you upload or keep my photo?
- No. The free test runs in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
- Does it work for men and women?
- Yes. You choose the men's or women's reference before the test. It only changes the Dimorphism score, and we never guess it from your photo.
- Why is my score a range?
- One part of the score, Misc, covers skin, hair and grooming and needs the AI report. Until then you see the range it could fall in.
- Can it tell me how to improve?
- The free result shows which proportions sit outside the typical range. Styling advice and previews of you come with the AI report. We do not give medical or surgical advice.
